Luca Galofaro Accumulazioni - 2015

Luca Galofaro is a French architect, who has been a professor at many top level architecture schools such as Ecole Speciale d’Architecture in Paris (2009-2012) and Bartlett school in London (2013). He obtained a Master degree of Spatial Science at the International Space University and has produced 7 books on his work. Luca uses collage work in a lot of his design procceses, in which he uses already set buildings and land marks and combines them with extracted shapes, structures and patterns to create these beautiful, abstract building and landmark designs.

What originally drew me to Luca Galofaro was this image to the left, In which he created this ginormous structure containing lots of blocks/buildings, neatly stacked up in a city. He also adds dark triangle shapes to each block which adds contrast and balance to the structure of the building. The image in itself focuses a-lot on shadows and dark areas, such as the trees and shadows around the building. this contrast in turn makes the triangle shapes contrast against the building really well and gives it an abstract look, in Lucas work he focuses on just monotone colours to capture shadow and shape really successfully. I really admire architecture and I use it a lot in my design processes, especially in Lucas work I love the bold shapes he uses, especially triangles, squares, etc.
